Special Session
On Saturday 23/7/11 at the new improved Gateshead Stadium, we were honoured to have a real life GB athlete in our presence. Due to an initial Twitter suggestion (after drink had been taken), the former Elswick Harrier & GB vest wearing athlete Ryan McLeod arrived on trackside as an inspiration to a few of our more competitive Junior & Minor athletes. Daniel Balmain, Joe Walker, Jessica Richardson, Lauren Newsham & minor athlete Charlotte Richardson trained alongside Ryan as he showed exactly what training hard is all about. His brother Mark assisted Ryan where needed and disclosed that he also values being an Elswick Harrier but sadly a serious knee injury has kept him away from Newburn for a while.
It was fabulous for Martin Crowe to see both Ryan and Mark too as he had trained both as Juniors.
On behalf of the kids, and everyone at the club, thank you Ryan for being an Elswick Harrier once more and for the inspiration you've given.
