A warm evening awaited competitors & spectators last night at the club’s river run last night. A record entry saw over 350 runners take to the start line. A course change to avoid runners coming over Newburn bridge, meant a new finish line at the Newcastle University building and the course becoming a 6 mile course length. From the runners comments post race – my understanding is that is was a ‘thoroughly enjoyable’ evening and that the participants enjoyed the 6 mile run (apologies we could not get rid of the humidity!).
Please find the results enclosed: 2017 Newburn River Run Results . The results will be published in due course by ‘Sports Soft’ & on ‘Run Britain ‘. Thank you to all the runners who made it a record breaking evening – You were all superb! Our sincere appreciation to Howden’s Joinery & Newcastle University for supporting our ‘new‘ run event.
Thank you to the club members who gave up their free time to help the club stage this run. From those people in & around event HQ, the leisure centre staff, all the course marshals & officials – The committee would like to take this opportunity to thank you all.
Finally as advertised in the leisure last night, do watch out for news & confirmed details of the club’s 2017 Norman Woodcock Memorial Race. A new format awaits this event!
