Good Friday Relays 2017 A superb day for club & local athletes. Results below.

I will start the wrong way round! and say on behalf of the club a huge indebted thank you! To everyone who helped make this day happen. From all the marshals, officials, results team, Lynn and her team at Hedley’s café, spectators, you were first class.

A very special Thank you to Jonathan Smith, who without his knowledge, this years Results would not have come about for all five races……which incidentally had a record turnout of individuals and teams: around 200 juniors and 750 or so senior & vet athletes making up the remaining event (that is an awful lot of ‘on the day data entry’, calculations and checking to complete!).

Moving on to the races: A new under 11’s races started the day…..and what a great, highly competitive race it was! This was followed by the combined event of the U13’s boys and girls race. Again another highly competitive race! with the weather just about holding up the U15’s boys & girls race was underway, again just as competitive!

The combined womens Senior & Vets 3 leg relay race got underway as a rain shower enclosed the course, but it did not last long and certainly did not put of Laura Weightman from Morpeth, breaking the womens course record.

Finally at 11am the last race: The combined senior & vets 4 leg relay race was well and truly underway. The athletes at the front of the field were tanking along at great pace! Taking the win: Gateshead’s A team and brought home by Chris Parr.

At Hedley’s Café, your support was very much appreciated: Awards were handed at throughout the early morning for the juniors and at 1.10pm the awards were handed out by Bill McGuirk to the podium winners.

Enclosed here  EH – Good Friday Run – 2017 (Completed) is a copy of the results which will be published on Sport soft results service asap and consolidated sheets will be placed on the our club’s website under the Tab Heading RESULTS PAGE.
