Team Elswick could not have asked for a better morning to run in. Cool, still, sunny and bright. Marvellous. 24 runners made up 12 pairs of teamed up runners, ready to do battle (in over expanded xmas day waistlines!) The teams left the Keelman pub (after several flagons of fine micro brewery ale!) and headed towards the the stadium of the ……playing field! The track was marked out to around the 464.83 metres (perfectly trapezoid in appearance!) Eight laps to complete. Master of ceremonies – Mr. Jim Scott announced the GO!!!!!
And they were off! Great running by everyone – some in costume, some in Xmas Day 98% polyester and 2% elastane mix of materials – giving the illusion of Nike / Adidas athlete models, crossed with Santas little helpers! You could hear the heaving lungs breathing out condensed ‘xmas spirit’! There could only be one winning team and for 2018 it was the superlative, Mr. Paul Jones and Mr. Andrew Ball. Well run gents……….It was back to the Keelman where everyone tucked into the free buffet and everyone took home a prize for their efforts, all grand stuff indeed! Ho Ho Ho!
Below are a few snaps for Rudolph’s album! Thank you to Michelle Coleman for organising the day for club members. Thank you to the Keelman Pub for their hospitality. Thank you to the time keepers, Jim, Ken, Micky and Martin. Thank you to the spectators giving support – nice to see a number of juniors taking part 🙂 Thank you to Jonny Lowes – The 477 Mega Pixel Camera aficionado! Keelman photos will follow later, but for now here is Rudoph’s picture show!
Enjoy the rest of your Christmas Team Elswick! Enjoy hogmanay and see you all again in 2019. Cheers, GB
