Event report by Jennifer Scarlett. Ten miles of hills, snow, mud and tracks. Ingram to Wooler: at this time of the year and with the recent terrible weather conditions, it wouldn’t have been anything other than. It was hard going from start to finish, particularly in the snow, but as a competitor, you just get on with it and battle – It was on the whole, an enjoyable battle. I was in a fortunate position to be vying for a top finish in the ladies competition – we took it in turns with the lead – it ebbed and flowed between us. She pipped me to the finishers tape, but I coundn’t be happier to take a second place finish, my first on a podium.
It is something I was really happy with. So second in the ladies competition, 16th overall out of 112 runners with a finishing time of 1.24.50. To round off the day, I won a prize too (Chocolate, biscuits and wine!) I loved representing Elswick Harriers on Sunday at this event and I would to like to take this opportunity to thank the club for their support. Thank you team. Well done and congratulations to must also go to Elaine Henderson & Colette Kirk from Elswick Harriers who also ran the race. They both competed really well out there today. Results & video clip can be viewed here > Thank you. Jen 🙂
