Wrekenton Harrier League Season Opener & This weeks senior training

Tuesday: Leave centre at 7.15pm and warm up, heading towards Mill Vale Loop and meet on the bridge (2017’s Thursday’s session location – On the opposite side to Warburtons’ Ind. Est.) Photo enclosed here > Thursday New Location Session: Run for 30 mins: each interval will be half a mile. Tom and Ian will be at each end of path to call out times. Warm down – back to the centre.

Thursday: Weather and lights permitting on the playing field: 2×1 min / 2×2 min / 2×3 min / 2×2 min / 2×1 min all with 1 min recovery. Please note this session is subject to change. Please ALL meet in the centre for 7.15pm.

On Saturday it was the NEHL Cross Country opening race at the ever popular Wrekenton Course. First off, the Junior age group races. Thank you to Ken Heslop for the junior report.

Well done to all the junior athletes who turned out on Saturday at the first Harrier League. The weather was kind and we had no rain. A special mention to Sara Blight for bringing the club tent. Under 11 boys: Bailey Shore 53rd 7.27. Under 11 girls: Lucy Milburn 14th 7.04- Erin Blight 36th 7.44 – Olivia Emson 57th 8.32. Under 13 boys: Charles Mason 64th 11.59. Under 13 girls: Caitlin Flanagan 4th 10.41 – Lauren Stroud 16th 11.19 – Abigail Leiper (fast pack) 43rd 10.39 – Emma Robinson 60th 12.48 -Maelona Redhead 73rd 14.44. 4th team Under 15 boys Kieron Dixon 25th 10.03 – Rowan Bennett 29th (fast pack) 8.42 Will Richards 53rd 11.25. 7th team. Under 15 girls: Emily Allison 14th 10.37- Charley Lee 30th 11.38 -Hannah Tumia 32nd (fast pack) 10.12 -Suzannah Fielding 34th (fast pack) 10.13 Kerry-Anne Simpson 40th 12.09. 7th team Apologies to Charley who due to a number mix up was missed out of the official results. Under 17 boys: Jamie Styles 10th 23.35 – Chris Mason 13th 23.59. under 17/20 girls: Robyn Bennett (fast pack) 4th 24.16 – Marissa O’Rourke 28th 32.09- Alex Hare 33rd 34.47. 4th team. After the Junior races it was the turn of the seniors to run. Well ran to those who donned the vest, spikes and trail shoes in this opening race.

Collectively the women’s team were placed 7th (Great to see Judith Nutt back running after a significant injury lay-off).
