Over the weekend, the Great North Run Series of popular events came to town. On Saturday, the City Games showcased the North East in superb panoramic style. Professional athletes on show. Also showcased were the junior run series of events.
Junior Athletes took part and they performed very well indeed across their age group runs:
Jamie Styles 22nd 00:14:58 / Zak Old 7th 15:11 / Hannah Tumia 12th 16:47 / Caitlin Flanagan 10th 17:26 / Emily Allison 19th 17:27 / Connor Shore 62nd 17:51 / Charley Lee 27th 18:10 / Lauren Stroud 41st 19:44 Owen Martin 220th 20:51. On Sunday it was time for the 13 miles 192 yards that makes up the Great North Run course: wheelchair athletes, professional athletes, club runners, charity runners, all converged to the start line on the central motorway ready for the start. Team Elswick were there in strong numbers: Well done and congratulations to you all. Great running indeed. As most of you will know, England’s Mo Farah took the men’s race title for the 4th time & Mary Keitany took the women’s title. Below is a table of Team Elswick’s results. Apologies if you are not captured – if you were running in a charity place.
