It was my second race with the club and I loved every minute, thanks to lalage n Joanne for having me on their team, I ran faster than I thought I could due to not wanting to let them or the club down! A pb for me and can’t wait to carry on improving. The team spirit is amazing from everyone whether cheering or taking part! Must add that I was amazed at how many of the girls hit pbs or like lalage suffered massively but still hit a great time! Roll on the next one…

Special thanks to Sharyn Kingsland who also turned out feeling under the weather and agreeing to run our last leg, as myself and Jo were feeling rather exhausted. As Mary said excellent team spirit and friendship.

For me personally, the relays highlighted the friendships us girls have formed within the club and the support and encouragement for our team mates. It was a fantastic atmoshphere on the night with everyone cheering each other on and making sure the next leg runner was ready with the support of Harry, Iain and Kev coming down to cheer amongst others (cant remember everyone sorry!). Brian, thank you for taking all the photos and a huge congratulations to Marie for helping Lalage after incurring an injury during the race – true team spirit. For me in the D Team with Leanne and Denise, who has never ran a relay before, we all travelled to the venue as a team, overcame our nerves and ran with grit and determination over a 2 mile distance – something we are not used to running being mid-longer distnace runners. For Leanne and myself achieving PB’s and also Denise setting a PB for a relay! All in all a fantastic night for womens running at Elswick.

Great write up Kim. It would be good to have a trail race in the championship as more people seem to be trying them and having a very positive experience. I think running a trail race gave me confidence to try X country. Enjoyed Keswick last year. Lalage
